Recently Co-working spaces, or shared working spaces have started to pop up all over Charlotte. With the numbers of startups continuing to grow, shared office spaces have opened up to promote collaboration and a community for those looking to take their company to the next-level.
An article written by Statista in October of 2016, states that shared working spaces will reach 37,000 by 2018.

Why should start-up companies seriously consider co-working spaces?
Here are three common reasons that will help shed light on their growing value to the business world.
- Easy on the pockets
As a startup, money is a big factor. When the company probably first started, working from home was a no brainer. However, as things evolved and expanded, the home environment just wouldn’t cut it anymore. However, looking for office space to rent that’s affordable is a difficult task, especially for startups because as we said, capital is at a premium.
Renting an office space can burn holes in your pockets, and then you have to also think about things like furniture, utilities, and Internet.
Many co-working spaces offer monthly affordable rates and some even offer daily pricing, most not requiring a lock-in contract for their spaces so they’re virtually commitment free. Ever think of those big issues like a water pipe bursting or big electrical issues… those BIG things that cost you BIG bucks? With co-working spaces that’s not on you, so there isn’t a need to worry about issues like that arising. - Environment
When you think of your work environment, you want something clean and stimulating. Typically, any office space you can afford doesn’t leave you with much leftover for all the creative elements we all desire.
Finding a workspace that already has a style that suits your vision means less money thrown at an aspect you shouldn’t be focusing on just yet .A coworking space provides those fun details that make going to work exciting and comfortable.
You come in, and all of the amenities are already provided, like printers, fax machines, water, desks, sofas, and other décor to make you feel at home and more constructive to getting work done. Then at the end of the day you can focus on numbers instead of how you’re going to make enough to prosper and regain equilibrium within your bank account. - Collaboration
One of the best parts about coworking spaces is the collaborative aspect. A magical thing happens when you place your business alongside other similar and like-minded companies or individuals, you start to share knowledge and ideas.
Now, not only do you have your teammates, but also you have other people in the same space working on different things. Remember, “Your network is your net worth” working in an environment that supports a variety of similar startups enables you to meet and share ideas with other people. You’re able to bounce ideas, gain feedback, and overcome issues unlike in a traditional workspace where most topics are deemed “confidential” outside of the office. You have the chance to meet and collaborate with other people you might have not met outside of the shared workspace. They might think of something you aren’t thinking about, and end up saving you time and money—and that’s time well spent.
Everyone hits a roadblock or two when starting something new, having a bigger and probably more dynamic group to gain feedback can produce a new form of momentum.
Working from home can sometimes get lonely, and provides unnecessary distractions. Co-working spaces might just be the trick to really get your engines running, or start them back up again.
